Shortly after South Africans came together to denounce Woolworths for their ‘extortionate’ prices, the fan favourite retailer is back in mzansi’s good books as consumers look forward to enjoying the festive with their newly introduced natural spring water ice.

One thing Woolworths has come to be known for is the fact that they cater to a specific upper-class market, which can be seen in their branding, locations and prices of course. In their most recent endeavour, they have revealed that they will be selling natural spring water ice and as expected, they have had the social media streets buzzing as consumers go back and forth sharing their split reactions to the product.

On one side, users are arguing that this was not the brightest idea from the giant retailers while they cite a lack of brand alignment. Others express their disdain for the company’s blatant exploitation of the middle class’s need for exclusivity, while they remain naive to the fact.

On the other hand, others have expressed their excitement for Woolworths’ addition of this product as it will make shopping more convenient and will remove the inconvenience of entering another store for one product. Furthermore, in true South African fashion, other users have already started imagining different scenarios and conversations that are about to come up during the festive surrounding the elite spring water ice.
