WINNIE KHUMALO’S DAUGHTER SHADES FAMILY?

Rethabile Khumalo, the daughter of late iconic singer Winnie Khumalo, shared a clip of an old interview her mom did on a podcast. In the clip, Winnie talks about how family is not present during difficult times.

“Nowadays, ‘blood is thicker than water’ doesn’t work,” she said.

She went on to allude that family is not supportive. Take a look…

“Your family is now your number one enemy most of the time. We used to think, when we were growing up when we still had parents, that blood is thicker than water or that family comes first.  But today, if you fall, they celebrate,” she said on a podcast, according to The Citizen.

“You get sick, they don’t come [to see you], but when you die, they travel from KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape to bury you. Why didn’t they send you money or assist you while you’re still alive,” she said back in 2024.

DJ Zinhle vowed to show Rethabile love and care following Winnie’s death.

HOW DID WINNIE KHUMALO DIE?

The Live My Life hitmaker passed away on Tuesday 7 January after a short illness. She had passed away on the drive to the hospital and pronounced dead on her arrival.

“As a family at this stage we are deeply saddened. She was sick and her daughter was out. It was her daughter that got back home to come and collect her so that she could be taken to the hospital. She tried to help her,” said ister and representative for the family Tshepi Akeepile to SABC.

“She was really not well. Unfortunately on their drive to the hospital that’s when she passed away. When they arrived at the hospital they pronounced her dead on arrival. It is expected that we are devastated. We are at a loss. Winnie had a son, Ntando Khumalo, and daughter, Rethabile Khumalo, and three grandchildren, three sisters and her mother,” Akeepile continued.

Following Winnie’s death, an ENCA reporter mistakenly reported the death of singer Kelly Khumalo, and she was outraged. He has since apologised.
