Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns‘ target Feisal Salum is set to sign a new contract with Tanzanian side Azam.
The 26-year-old Azam FC star is highly rated and finished second top goal-scorer in Tanzania last season with 19 goals. Salum, who is often compared to French legend N’Golo Kanté, has played under Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Despite Kaizer Chiefs’ interest, Sundowns were also reportedly close to signing the attacker in August. This week, Phaakathi reported that Azam were preparing a new contract for their star player.
“Feisal is an important player for Azam and they don’t want to lose him. They will offer him a new and improved contract that will make him one of the highest paid players in the Tanzanian Premier League,” a source told the publication.
Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns might lose out on Salum
“It is believed that his new salary will be in the region of $12 000 (just over R216 000), but Chiefs can easily match or top this amount so it remains to be seen if Salum will accept this offer or if he will join Amakhosi or Simba in January,” saif the publication.
When asked if Salum would join Kaizer Chiefs or Sundowns, Azam coach Bruno Ferry said the midfielder was happy at the club.
“What I see, honestly. I see a player who’s happy to be in Azam to play in this championship,” Ferry told FARPost. “I don’t see that he doesn’t have ambition [to move in future]. But I think for the moment, he is fine where he is, you know.”
Where will Salum end up next year?
