Pitso Mosimane has explained why he joined Iranian club Esteghlal Khuzestan FC.

The 60-year-old’s last team was Saudi side Abha Club before they got relegated in May. The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach was previously linked to the Nigerian football team.

Esteghlal FC announced on Friday that Jingles joined the club on a one-year deal. According to reports, Jingles, as usual, will bring his technical team as he looks to get Esteghlal back on track this season.

Pitso Mosimane has coached four teams since he left Egyptian giants Al Ahly in 2022. The three-time CAF Champions League winner has explained why he joined Esteghlal FC.

“Esteghlal F.C. is a very big club in the Gulf region with a long and illustrious history. The two Asian Champions League stars on top of their badge tell you what kind of club this is,” said coach Mosimane when he was unveiled as Esteghlal coach.

Pitso Mosimane faces another tough task in the Middle East

“Their last trophy was won in 2022, and we can believe their fans are hungry for glory once again. The challenge that awaits us is steep, but it is our privilege to lead such a prolific club.

“I would like to thank the club leadership for placing their trust in us. We are ready to get to work.”

Pitso Mosimane’s first match will be against Ronaldo’s side Al-Nasr in the AFC Champions League. The 60-year-old SA coach faced the team in the Saudi Pro League last season so he should know what to expect.
