Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng has Hugo Broos’ full confidence.
HUGO BROOS LOYAL TO RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG
Despite a dip in form in Orlando Pirates colours, Bafana Bafana coach Broos has selected the 20-year-old Mofokeng for the club’s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
“He’s become a very good player and everyone has expected, I don’t know what from him but he’s only 20, he’s only playing one full year in a team like Pirates, so you see now he’s getting a little dip, the level a bit less,” Broos said about the Orlando Pirates winger via iDiski Times.
“I can’t drop him now that his level is a bit less, I will always support him, but he has to get over this, it’s up to him. He plays in a team now, who at a certain moment could have been champions, so they expect more from him than six, seven months ago,” the Belgian concluded.
JOSE RIVEIRO ON MBEKEZELI MBOKAZI
Orlando Pirates central defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi is currently the club’s most exciting player. Coach Jose Riveiro has sent a key message on the 19-year-old’s emergence.
“I know that the boy is attracting a lot of attention because he is the new kid on the block, he is performing well, he is giving us some good things,” Riveiro told iDiski Times.
“We have to be patient with him because he is just starting his career in professional football, and its gonna be up and down for sure now,” the Orlando Pirates mentor added.
“But we need to all of us as a club, the fans as well be patient with him but it’s clearly an interesting prospect for the future.”
ORLANDO PIRATES VS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has questioned the decision to set the clash against Orlando Pirates on Sunday rather than Saturday.
With the latest Bafana Bafana camp starting on Sunday, Sundowns coach Cardoso has said players will not be afforded enough rest. “It’s not good that this match was put on Sunday because the players will go to the national team immediately after the match,” Cardoso said via FARPost. “Players will not even have one day to rest, that’s why the match should have been played on Saturday so that the players can be respected in terms of how they have to rest and play at a good level for the national team.
“Football players are not machines; they are human beings that have families, social life and their physicality that should be respected. And sometimes we demand performance from players when they are dying, even when they are not capable of performing at the best level,” Cardoso concluded.
