Which supermarket has the best prices this weekend?
We compared 16 common household grocery items across four major South African supermarkets – Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay and Woolworths – to find out where you can get the best overall savings.
Here’s how the total cost of the basket stacks up this week:
- Pick n Pay: R849.84
- Shoprite: R853.84
- Woolworths: R859.84
- Checkers: R892.84
Pick n Pay comes out on top as the most affordable option, with a full basket costing R849.84. Shoprite offers a similar basket for just R4 more. Meanwhile, Woolworths and Checkers are the most expensive options this week.
