When is Chippa vs Chiefs in a potential MTN8 decider?

Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a blow to their MTN8 hopes. Meanwhile, their next Betway premiership opponents are chasing the same dream.

Kaizer Chiefs face a nail-biting chase for an MTN8 place

With the news of Royal AM’s expulsion from the PSL, all points collected against them have become null and void. As a result, the revised table sees Chiefs sit on 29 points after 23 games. Previously, they were on 30 points after 24 outings. Points mean more than games in hand at this stage of a campaign. Chippa and Golden Arrows both pose a serious threat to their ambitions of a top-eight finish; the Chilli Boys are now level on points with the Glamour Boys and have a game in hand on Nabi’s men. An imminent trip to Chippa on Saturday 19 April at 17:30 could be make or break. Defeat in this clash is unthinkable for Amakhosi fans.

Nedbank Cup clash with Sundowns is next

Before all that, Chiefs have one final chance at silverware this season. They meet Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semifinals on Sunday, 13 April at 18:30.

Predicted Amakhosi XI vs Sundowns

Bvuma; Solomons, Msimango, Kwinika, Dove; Ngcobo, Maart; Duba, Shabalala, Du Preez; Morris.

Zajmovic on the Chiefs wish list

30-year-old Bosnian star Dzenan Zajmovic has been a late bloomer in his career. However, his 2024-2025 season numbers of eight goals and three assists in 22 Betway Premiership appearances are indicative of a guy who can do a job in South Africa’s PSL. Only Sundowns pair Iqraam Rayners and Lucas Ribeiro Costa have scored more than the 1.90m tall marksman this term. His record of a direct goal contribution every other game has raised a few eyebrows.
