As the date for 2026 school placement offers approaches, the Western Cape Department of Education (WCED) has issued a firm reminder to parents: check your login details now or risk missing out.
2026 Admissions: Offers Begin 30 May
Following the closure of the Grade R, 1, and 8 application windows on 15 April, schools have reviewed submissions and implemented their admissions policies. Offers of acceptance will begin rolling out on 30 May, with parents expected to confirm their child’s placement by 17 June.
“There is always a flurry of excitement, nerves, and anticipation on this date, and not being able to log in because of a forgotten password can be extremely frustrating,” said the department.
To avoid this, WCED encourages all parents to test their login credentials before the announcement day. A step-by-step guide to updating passwords is now available on the admissions website.
Check Your Contact Details Too
In addition to verifying login information, the department is urging parents to ensure their contact details are current. Failure to do so may result in missed notifications from schools.
“Every year, we encounter difficulties communicating with parents whose contact details have changed since they made their initial application, but who have not informed the department,” WCED explained.
In some cases, a placement may be lost simply because parents did not know it had been offered. To prevent this, they can update their contact information by visiting the education district office or calling the WCED call centre at 0861 819 919.
Don’t Leave It Too Late
The department stressed, “Don’t wait. Ensure that your login and contact details are correct today. “
The online admissions portal and additional guidance are available at this website.
