Chiefs were forced to make a change in the 80th minute after Inacio Miguel failed to recover from what looked like a strained muscle.

Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership match played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

Wandile Duba opened the scoring for Amakhosi in the first half, but that lead was cancelled by Mlungisi Mbunjana in the dying minutes of the match.

Chiefs dominated possession and they created a lot of chances but were once again guilty of missing changes.

On the other side, Galaxy goalkeeper Ira Tape kept his team in the game by making fine saves to deny Amakhosi.

Tape was first called into action in the 12th minute when Chiefs were awarded a free kick just outside the Galaxy penalty box, but the Ivorian goalkeeper did well to save Nkosingiphile Ngcobo goal bound shot from the resultant free kick.

Three minutes later Gaston Sirino drew another good save from Tape with a powerful shot as Amakhosi continued to pile the pressure on The Rockets.

Glody Lilepo wasted a good chance to double Chiefs’ lead in the 27th minute when he found himself unmarked just inside the box, but shot narrowly wide.

Galaxy’s best chance of the half Dzenan Zajmovic just after the half-hour mark following a mistake at the back by Chiefs, but the striker shot over the crossbar from close range.

The Rockets were to be punished for that miss in the 36th minute when Duba put Chiefs in the lead. A mistake at the back by Galaxy presented Sirino with a chance to score, but Tape did well to initially stop his shot, but Duba was on hand to tap the ball home from the rebound.

Chiefs took their 1-0 lead to the half-time break.

The tempo of the game increased tremendously in the second half with both teams having a go at each other with Chiefs looking to increase their lead while Galaxy was trying to find the equaliser.

Chiefs were forced to make a change in the 80th minute after Inacio Miguel failed to recover from what looked like a strained muscle. Edmilson Dove came on for him.

Ironically, Galaxy found the equaliser from a mistake made by Dove who tried to clear a corner kick, but ended up heading the ball towards his own goal. Bruce Bvuma could only parry the ball towards  Mbunjana’s path who then poked the ball home.

Puso Dithejane missed a golden chance to grab all three points for the home side when he found himself unmarked inside the Chiefs box, but he shot wide of goal.

In the end, the teams had to settle for the share of the spoils.
