South Africans had no kind words for award-winning singer Dr Malinga after he reportedly splurged millions on a new BMW.

Reports have it that the singer has added a new R2 million BMW to his impressive fleet barely two years after he cried on Podcast and Chill with MacG as he opened up about his woes with Sars.

DR MALINGA FLAUNTS R2 MILLION BMW, SA REACTS

In 2022, he made headlines when he revealed that he owed Sars around R2 million. As such, the hitmaker had many of his assets—including his car and furniture—auctioned to pay the penalty.

Against his woes, fans and other celebrities quickly donated funds to help him settle his debt.

However, thanks to his huge social media following, Dr Malinga is often trending whenever he posts or gets posted.

The news of his purchase has since left Mzansi divided. However, against the news of the purchase, Dr Malinga has yet to confirm the reports.

On the other hand, several blogs have confirmed the news with a series of online posts.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, celebrity blog MDN News posted, “Dr Malinga celebrates purchasing a new car worth over R2 million.”

These posts have gained thousands of comments and reactions since dropping online.

An X user, @samba_nelly23, said, “But two years ago. Nevermind.” Another user commented, “Congratulations to him. Hopefully, he won’t come lamenting here when SARS pays him a visit.”

However, @lungstagangsta added: “Wasn’t he broke the other year? People must ask for their money back.” On the other hand @AmieMbhele_ said: “Uyithenge ngemali yethu ye donation , awu R29 wami.”

While petrolheads praised Dr Malinga’s rumoured car, others were quick to criticise him, implicating his Sars woes in the mix.

MAKING HEADLINES

After all, this is not the first time he has made such headlines.

In 2022, he topped trends after it was alleged that he had added an R5 million McLaren a few months after receiving public donations amid his woes.

But following the furore, Dr Malinga slammed the assumption made by many fans that the luxury car was his.

He told TimesLive: “It’s not my car, it’s just a video. I never wrote that the car is mine. It’s my friend’s car, not my car”.

He added, “For now, I cannot afford such a car. I wouldn’t buy that car now if I had the money. That car is too small for me; I love big cars. Buying a McLaren for me is the last resort.”
