Cape Medical Response (CMR) received an emergency call from a VIP protection unit member who sustained a fractured ankle while hiking between Dias Beach and Cape of Good Hope on Friday.

Given the challenging terrain, a coordinated response was launched, with CMR paramedics, VIP unit members, and Table Mountain National Park rangers hiking up to provide medical care.

A 12-person team consisting of members from National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), City of Cape Town Fire & Rescue, Park Rangers and METRO Rescue carried the patient down the mountain in a Stokes basket, ensuring a safe evacuation to the car park, where a CMR ambulance transported the unnamed man to a Cape Town hospital for further treatment.

Wrong answers only: Who do you think the VIP protection unit member is?
