Radio presenter Zuluglamour is dead

The South African radio industry has lost one of its vibrant voices, Zamaweza “Zuluglamour” Mthalane.

The beloved Ukhozi FM contributor passed away on Sunday evening at Dr Pixley KaSeme Memorial Hospital in Durban after a brief battle with meningitis. She was 35 years old.

According to those close to her, Zuluglamour had been unwell for about two weeks before her passing.

“She started getting sick two weeks ago complaining about headaches. She tried to get medication, then she was later admitted to the hospital. When she got to the hospital, her situation just grew worse. Her eyes closed, and she couldn’t even hear at one point, and she passed away. We’re heartbroken by her sudden passing,” shared a source.

She was widely recognized for her contributions to Sigiyia Ngengoma, a Ukhozi FM show dedicated to maskandi music.

Through her segment Ezisegudwini, she kept listeners updated on the latest in the genre every Saturday. Her passion for maskandi music extended beyond radio, as she was a regular at music festivals where she often took on the role of MC.

Additionally, she showcased her presenting skills on the Umbuso Wamaciko podcast.

Tributes have been pouring in on social media from fans, colleagues, and industry peers, all remembering the energy and dedication she brought to her craft.
