TYLA REVEALS FIRST FOOD STOP IN SOUTH AFRICA

Johannesburg-born singer Tyla revealed that the first thing she did when she got home to South Africa, after spending six months abroad, was going to Chicken Licken. The Water hitmaker said that she stopped for hot wings and sliders at the well-known fast food franchise.

She also addressed the comments made about her being an “Uppity African” after she asked singer Halle Bailey to hold her award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards because it was heavy. “Uppity African” is a derogatory term used to describe entitlement and arrogance.

“Guys as soon as I got home I went to the Chicken Licken line… got some hot wings and sliders. You know the story. I know you guys have seen all the dramas online you came to see the main topic in the flesh. Where’s all the Uppity Africans?” she said.
