They died on the scene. The motive behind the attack is unclear, and no arrests have been made. Responding officers found the bodies shortly after the alarm was raised.
Despite launching a preliminary investigation, SAPS confirmed that the suspects remain unidentified and at large.

“Violence against women, children and elderly people is unacceptable. SAPS is committed to protecting the vulnerable in society against the increase of gender based violence,” Kupiso said.
MOTHER AND DAUGHTER SHOT AND KILLED
Police in Gqeberha arrested a wounded suspect at Dora Nginza Hospital after he sought treatment for a leg injury. This followed reports of gunfire in Sakhasonke Village, Walmer Location.
When SAPS Walmer officers responded to the scene, they discovered the bodies of 19-year-old Hailie-Jade Coboza and her mother, 40-year-old Lusanda, inside their home.
Detectives uncovered key leads at the crime scene that led them to local hospitals, where they apprehended the first suspect.
They then traced the investigation to a residence in Greenshields Park, where they arrested three more suspects.
