Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has identified three things that have halted his team’s progress this season.
The 59-year-old arrived at Amakhosi in July with high expectations. He won his first two league matches and was highly praised for the type of football he introduced to his players. Since the October FIFA Break, things went south for the Tunisian coach who only managed to win just two of the last seven league games.
Nabi has identified three problems which have been hindering Kaizer Chiefs this season. He said inconsistency, injuries and pressure from the media have affected the team
“I feel that at the beginning of the league, the quality was better than, let’s say, the last two or three games,” said Nabi as per FARPost.
“But this has an explanation. There are [three] factors. The first one is when you play a lot of young players, the inconsistency of the performance is normal.”
Nabi says injuries impacted Kaizer Chiefs’ progress
“Then the second thing is we have been having a lot of injuries that have been impacting our performance on the field and as well impacting the results, which brought so much pressure on the team, on the coach from outside,” he said
The Tunisian coach has blamed the media for the team’s poor form in recent months. Nabi said the pressure at Kaizer Chiefs has affected players and have since develop fear.
“And then all that pressure impacts our players as well, which sometimes, that’s what we said before, they play with the handbrake and with the fear to not lose. Not the fear to score more, but the fear to not lose.
“And we believe that after this game, three points we can build from this,” Nabi said.
The Tunisian mentor finished the year on a high following a hard fought win over Chippa United this past weekend. Nabi has indicted that more players will be signed this coming transfer window as Kaizer Chiefs look to compete for top honours next season.
