Kaizer Chiefs are not only worried about bringing in new players into the team ahead of next season.

But they have also been working hard to retain some of the players they deem key to their rebuilding phase.

A number of their players will see their contracts expire in June, but the Chiefs management is making things happen behind the scenes.

KAIZER CHIEFS HAVE KEPT THESE THREE PLAYERS

In February this year, news of Kaizer Chiefs retaining South American midfielder Edson Castillo surfaced.

Castillo’s contract was set to expire in June, but Amakhosi offered him a two-year deal which he accepted.

This means he will stay at Chiefs at least until June 2027 unless the technical team decides otherwise.

In March, speedy striker Ashley du Preez confirmed signing a new two-year deal with the Glamour Boys.

Just like Castillo, the former Stellenbosch FC marksman will be at Naturena until June 2027.

Du Preez might be struggling for regular game time under Nasreddine Nabi this season but he remains an important figure.

The third player to have his contract renewed by Chiefs is none other than skipper Yusuf Maart.

As reported on The South African website, Amakhosi have triggered an option they had on Maart’s initial contract.

He will still be at Chiefs next season, and in addition, the two parties agreed on another one-year option for the 2026-27 season.

Maart has featured in 90 competitive games for the Soweto giants, scored six and provided eight assists.
