In a shocking incident, a teacher was kidnapped from Happydale Special School in Algoa Park, Gqeberha, on Monday morning.
According to the Arrive Alive website, Eastern Cape police have confirmed that the abduction occurred shortly after the teacher’s arrival at the school.
‘Resorted to violence’
A spokesperson for the Eastern Cape police, Captain Andre Beetge, stated that the police received an alert about the abduction shortly after 07:00.
‘The police can confirm that a 45-year-old female staff member was taken by at least three male suspects just after she arrived,’ Beetge explained.
The abductors, who fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla, resorted to violence by firing two shots into the air during the abduction.
The sequence of events was caught on camera, with a video circulating online showing the victim parking her bronze/brown Toyota Fortuner before a white Toyota Corolla followed her in.
Seconds later, three men emerged from the vehicle, forcibly pulling the teacher into the backseat of their car before speeding away.
The footage captures the desperation of a male colleague, who rushed to the victim’s car door still ajar in an attempt to intervene.

Meanwhile, Ian Cameron, chairperson of parliament’s police portfolio committee, commented on the incident, stating that the teacher was abducted just outside the school when three armed men stormed the parking lot, leading to the alarming events.
Cameron revealed that the victim is reportedly the wife of a well-known businessman, intensifying fears that this incident may be linked to a larger trend of criminal activity targeting individuals for extortion.
