Top PSL clubs are in danger of having their players poached from Europe.

That’s the dilemma Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs face as several players continue to catch the eye of opportunistic scouts.

Gossip

  • The future of Percy Tau remains unpredictable, but many believe his departure from Al Ahly is imminent following an alleged fallout with coach Marcel Koller. Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are monitoring the situation.
  • Buccaneers starlet Mohua Nkota is on Standard Liege’s radar – the Belgium side could wait for the season to conclude before sending an offer.
  • Rushwin Dortleyis another PSL star being scouted overseas; an anonymous Russian team is reportedly interested in the defender.
  • Kaizer Chiefs are expected to submit a bid for DR Congo’s Fiston Mayele in the January transfer window to increase their attacking options.
  • Reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns will reportedly battle against Kaizer Chiefs for Feisal Salum’s signature.

Inside scoop

Only Sundowns had been interested in Salum before Kaizer Chiefs appointed Cedric Kaze as assistant coach – the two have worked together in the past.

“There could be more changes in the playing staff at Chiefs in January. You know the Tanzanian midfielder that Mamelodi Sundowns have been following, Feisal Salum? Kaizer is now after him,” SoccerLaduma reported.

“Actually, the assistant coach Cedric Kaze is believed to have proposed him to the club as both he and Nabi know him from Yanga. He played under them before joining Azam and he feels there is a role he can play at the club hence his suggestion to the team. It’s just that at Chiefs for now when they are ready they will approach Azam. But there is that talk at the club now about Feisal Salum.”

Regarding Dortley and his secret admirer, another SoccerLaduma source provided insight on the situation, saying, “Yes, they have inquired about him, but with coach Nasreddine Nabi having so much belief and trust in him, I don’t think anything could happen soon. It will take a lot from the Russian team to convince Chiefs to sell Dortley at this point, but I can tell you the interest and inquiry has been there,

“As much as he is doing very well for the club, the European team interested in him are more impressed with his national team performance. Not just in these recent games but also during the COSAFA Cup with coach Helman Mkhalele. So they have been monitoring him for some time now.”
