Kaizer Chiefs supporters have patiently waited for the January transfer window, while Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have shone with glittering stars.
KAIZER CHIEFS LINKED WITH FOUR PLAYERS
Nasreddine Nabi has looked covered in defence with impressive new signings like Miguel Inacio and Rushwin Dortley. It is, however, in central midfield and the forward line where Kaizer Chiefs are under pressure to beef up.
AGEE AMONGO
According to KickOff, Amakhosi scouts were at the Loftus Versfeld in early December to watch Union Maniema take on Mamelodi Sundowns. The focus was Maniema 25-year-old’s midfielder Agee Basiala. “Kaizer Chiefs scouts were at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday to watch the player,” a source told the outlet. “Tera was there with the Kaizer Chiefs officials. They were impressed. He has been identified as one of the players that could be signed by the club in January.” Agee, who can play as 6, 8 and 10, has one goal in five CAF Champions Leagues this season.
PERCY TAU
The name Tau and Amakhosi have been synonymous for some time now. While the 30-year-old forward has been linked with an exit from Al Ahly when his deal expires in June, Soccer Laduma says Chiefs have tabled an offer to sign the former Sundowns superstar. “Al Ahly have reportedly received an offer from Kaizer Chiefs for Percy Tau, alongside another Gulf outfit, ahead of the looming transfer window,” the outlet reported. “According to Kooora, one unnamed Qatari has sent an offer to the Club of the Century for the 46-capped, but the same report claims that a source from within the side has confirmed that Chiefs have also submitted an offer.”
MICHAEL OLUNGA AND FISTON MAYELE
As revealed in many previous reports around Mzansi and the continent, Chiefs are in the market for a top-class centre forward. One of them has been Kenya’s Michael Olunga. The 30-year-old Amakhosi target scored his 12th goal in 13 games as Al-Duhail beat Al-Arabi 2-1 in the Qatari Super League last weekend. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are also linked with the highly-rated striker Fiston Mayele at Pyramids FC. Recent reports say Amakhosi are preparing to table R20 million for the Congolese star.
