Festive Season 2024 – “Thank you for visiting,” says Table Mountain Cableway
The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) has reflected on yet another busy season holiday this past December.
“We saw countless smiling faces and happy families this December as they travelled to the top of the New7Wonders of Nature site and enjoyed the picture-postcard-perfect panoramic views. For most people coming to Cape Town our beloved mountain has always been the one thing they don’t want to miss, and it looks like this season was no different even if we are not yet back to the kind of numbers we saw before the pandemic,” Selma Hercules, Executive Director for the Table Mountain Cableway said.
Keeping people safe, secure, and comfortable while they visit Table Mountain is a team effort she added.
“We simply must thank our staff members who were on duty over the last few weeks to greet visitors and assist in whatever they need. Our behind-the-scenes colleagues ensured that everything worked smoothly, from food and beverage all the way to technical systems and traffic management,” Hercules said.
Free shuttle service a welcome feature
The free shuttle service between the Lower Tafelberg Road parking area and the Lower Station was also very popular this season, as people flocked to the mountain to make use of the cableway’s extended operating hours.
The Cableway shuttle service takes away the hassle of looking for parking along Tafelberg Road and runs regularly to transport visitors to the ticket office or back to their cars.
“We are blessed to have a steady flow of visitors throughout the year, but the summer school holiday is always our busiest. This December thankfully did not see too much service disruption due to strong winds, but the extremely hot weather took its toll on some hikers and visitors. It is a reminder to always dress appropriately and to remain hydrated. Make sure you are prepared for any sudden change in the weather whenever you visit the mountain,” Hercules added.
“We want to thank everyone who visited us this December – whether it was their very first visit, or a return trip. The school holidays may soon be a distant memory, but our mountain stands ready to welcome you throughout the year,” the Cableway Director said.
