SuperSport United have reportedly parted ways with Gavin Hunt, according to numerous reports.

The Tshwane giants have struggled this season under the experienced coach. Despite reaching the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, SuperSport has performed below par this campaign and one may argue that Hunt’s second tenure with Matsatsantsa has been a failure.

In the three years that he coached SuperSport, the club has not tasted silverware or reached any final. Sunday World reported on Thursday that Gavin Hunt was sacked due to poor results

“The club has unfortunately decided to relieve the coach of his duties today,” Sunday World reported

“Results have not been forthcoming, and the coach has been under pressure for some time. The team has now ended up in the relegation zone, and this is something that SuperSport is not familiar with.

“There was a meeting this morning [Thursday] and it was decided that [Gavin] Hunt part ways with the club so that they can find someone who can rescue and take the club forward,” the publication said.

Gavin Hunt sacked, according to reports

SuperSport is currently languishing in the relegation zone of the Betway Premiership at number 15 making it Hunt’s worst season with the team. In his first tenure from 2007 until 2012, Gavin Hunt won three league titles in a row with Matsatsantsa, making him one of the most decorated coaches in the country.

The club has not responded to the rumours.

Are Hunt coaching methods outdated?
