Several Sundowns players will see their contracts coming to an end in June. The likes of Marcelo Allende, Khuliso Mudau, Aubrey Modiba, Mothobi Mvala, Mosa Lebusa, Rivaldo Coetzee and Jody February will become free agents in June if Sundowns fail to tie them down to new deals.

Sundowns free transfers?

Some of these players have options in their contracts, but the club is yet to exercise them, thereby risking losing them on free transfers.

With the exception of Coetzee, who has spent much of his time nursing injuries at the Chloorkop, most of these players are regulars at the club.

A source has revealed that new coach Miguel Cardoso has urged the Sundowns management to speed up the process of a new contract because he doesn’t want to lose the core of his team.

‘Everything possible’

“Sundowns have been doing well over the years and Cardoso wants the club to continue this dominance as most of these players form part of his plans for the new season. He doesn’t want to start from scratch. He knows that it’s not going to be easy to create another dominant team, so he has asked the club management to do everything possible to secure these players.”

Considering the quality of these soon-to-be-out-of-contract players, it will not be difficult for them to find new clubs should the parties fail to agree contract extensions.
