Sundowns could play Magesi in the FINAL

Mamelodi Sundowns made a statement this past weekend when they thrashed Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 in the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup.

With Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United and Stellenbosch FC out of the tournament, Masandawana are favourites to claim the trophy. Only Richards Bay, Magesi FC and Marumo Gallants are left in the Carling KO.

On Sunday, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced the dates, venues, and kick-off times for the eagerly awaited Carling Knockout semifinal matches.

Sundowns favourites to win the Carling KO

The semifinal action kicks off on Saturday, 9 November 2024, as Richards Bay FC takes on Magesi FC at King Zwelithini Stadium. On Sunday, 10 November 2024, Mamelodi Sundowns and Gallants play at Dr Molemela Stadium in the Free State with a place in the Carling Knockout final up for grabs.

Both fixtures will kick off at 15:00 this coming weekend, said the PSL.

After Sundowns defeated Chiefs, their path to the Carling KO final looks much easier. Gallants knocked out last season’s champions Stellies in the quarter-finals and will not make life easy for Masandawana.

In the other semi-final, giant killers Magesi play Richards Bay looking to reach their first-ever final in the PSL. Dikwena tsa Meetse knocked out Pirates in the last 16 to send a clear message to the other teams. They are two wins away from making history and Clinton Larsen’s players have what it takes to fight.

A dream Carling Cup final for most Sundowns fans will be their team playing Magesi. Richards Bay are no pushovers and might prove difficult to break should they play Downs in the final.
