Albeit first in the league, Mamelodi Sundowns have missed Themba ‘Mshishi’ Zwane.
The 35-year-old has been out since October after suffering an Achilles injury against Congo Brazzaville in the African Cup of Nation Qualifiers.
A lot has happened, from Sundowns to Bafana Bafana, since that night, but injury updates on the 439-capped man has been scarce—until now.
“Themba Zwane is obviously an important player for not only Sundowns but for South African football,” reported Sundowns manager Miguel Cardoso.
“No pressure on his recovery at all, still time to go,” he added.
“It was a very strong and hard injury, quite severe, and on this situation, the pressure is even worse. He is recovering well according to the programme but still time to go for sure.”
Saleng on the move?
Unlike Sundowns and Zwane, the relationship between Monnapule Saleng and Orlando Pirates remains ominous as the pacey winger, who is injury-free, continues to be left out of match day squads.
However, it appears, but it is not confirmed, that the Buccaneers are willing to let the 26-year-old go for around R15 million.
“Saleng has also been accused of being a divisive figure with his punctuality in the weeks leading up to his return to the (Pirates) XI when they faced Al Ahly,” a source confirmed.
“However, he has since returned to the stands and separate sources have stated that should clubs be interested, his price tag would be in excess of R15 million.”
