Newly-signed TS Galaxy attacker Sphesihle Maduna has reflected on his failed move to Kaizer Chiefs during his time at AmaZulu FC.

Maduna signed with TS Galaxy on a free transfer ahead of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season. Before signing with the Rockets, the KZN-born midfielder spent six months with Cape Town Spurs after joining the Urban Warriors in January 2024.

In his short stint at Spurs, Maduna featured in seven games in all competitions without scoring any goal or providing assist. The 24-year-old parted ways with CT Spurs following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end on the 2023/24 campaign.

Maduna was in the colours of AmaZulu before joining the Cape Town-based outfit as a free agent. In his six seasons with Usuthu, the talented midfielder played over 80 matches, scored seven goals and provided six assists.

WHAT DID SPHESIHLE MADUNA SAY ABOUT FAILED TO TO KAIZER CHIEFS?

The utility player was linked with a high-profile move to Chiefs in the past two seasons, however the move could not materialise.

Maduna has revealed that he was aware of Chiefs’ interest in his services and the conversations about a possible transfer were between the two clubs.

“I know that Chiefs and other teams wanted to sign me, and that made me realise that people are seeing my work, and they’re watching,” Maduna told FARPost.

“So, I’m a player with a lot of belief. I just need to continue working hard so that things can be easy for me. I really don’t know why the move to the Chiefs didn’t happen because they were taking to AmaZulu.”

Meanwhile, the skilful winger has had a slow start to life at TS Galaxy after starting just one match and coming on as a second-half substitute on two occasions.

The Mpumalanga-based side is winless in the new Premiership season after losing their opening three matches. Galaxy will be looking to collect their first maximum points of the season when they face Marumo Gallants at Petrus Molemela Stadium on Saturday, 26 October 2024. Kickoff is at 15:00.
