Somizi Mhlongo has weighed into Siya and Rachel Kolisi’s divorce with a word of advice.

Like the Springbok captain and his wife, the TV and radio personality also went through a public marriage split with ex Mohale Motaung.

Although they were never legally married, Somizi and Mohale’s parting was plagued with allegations of domestic violence and infidelity.

SOMIZI REACTS TO SIYA AND RACHEL KOLISI DIVORCE

In an Instagram Reel, Somizi Mhlongo expressed his shock and sadness at the news of Siya and Rachel Kolisi’s divorce last week.

For the entertainer, he claimed it would be hard to see the Springboks’ first lady go by any other name.

He said, “I can’t imagine Rachel with [another surname]. It’s Rachel Kolisi. That’s all I know.”

Offering her “advice,” Somizi said directly: “Rachel, if you’re thinking of going back to your surname, please do it privately, for the sake of my heart and the nation’s heart.

“You are our makoti”.

Although Somizi did not take his husband’s surname – Motaung – Mohale did take his. This was dropped after the announcement of their “divorce” in 2022.

WHAT IS HER MAIDEN SURNAME?

Unbeknownst to many, Rachel Kolisi was actually Rachel Smith before she married Siya Kolisi.

The couple met in 2012 and married in 2016.

Rachel’s brother is sports agent Joel Smith, and her sister-in-law is Tatjana Smith (nee Schoenmaker).

It’s unclear if she will revert to her maiden name at this stage.

MOHALE ALSO HAS SOMETHING TO SAY…

Like Somizi, his ex-husband Mohale Motaung also had something to say about Siya and Rachel Kolisi.

When one tweep asked the public: “Do you still want to get married?” after the Kolisi bombshell, Mohale responded with a meme about still believing in love.
