Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has shared throwback pictures from his time at Grey High School and revealed his nickname from that time.

On Friday afternoon, Siya Kolisi reminisced with his fans by posting a collection of photos on Instagram.
Kolisi comes from humble beginnings and started playing rugby at just seven years old. It’s remarkable to witness his journey and the transformation he has undergone.
The pictures were taken while he was a student at Grey High in Port Elizabeth.
The rugby player, who went to a boys’ high school, said that his nickname was Shrek.

In 2022, Siya attended the unveiling of “The Kolisi Field” at Grey High School.
During the tribute celebration, he reflected on his first day of school, recalling how neither he nor his mother spoke English.
“Coming to Grey alone was a big thing for me. I remember driving to the gate with my mother, and neither of us could speak English.”
SIYA REFLECTS ON WORKING HARD
He shared that his mother’s advice to put in effort motivated him.
“When I came to school, my mother told me, ‘You better work hard.’
“For the first time, I had my wildest and biggest dreams just by seeing the school’s infrastructure,” he said
Now, he is a successful rugby player who has achieved financial success and is enjoying his dream life.
