Springbok star and HTS Middelburg legend Kwagga Smith is making headlines after he earned his 50th international cap for South Africa at the Murrayfield Stadium against Scotland.

Often selected as an indispensable member of the ‘Bomb Squad, ’ Kwagga Smith has fast become one of the most celebrated Boks players.

Rassie Erasmus and the Springbok coaching staff granted Kwagga Smith a start on his 50th international cap for South Africa.

No doubt the star kept his composure and did not let the sense of the occasion keep him away from the action as the Springboks thumbed Scotland 32-15.

Despite the game not being as thrilling as many would have thought, the day will live long in the memory of Kwagga Smith, a two-time World Cup-winning former 7s star.

Against his 50th cap, several publications and players flooded online to congratulate him on his success. Middelburg Observer shared a congratulatory post: “Congrats on 50 caps, Kwagga!”

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi, who started from the bench, took to Instagram to celebrate Kwagga Smith’s big win.

Taking to the picture-sharing app, Siya Kolisi posted, “Warrior @kwaggasmith !! Congrats, my brother 50 up.”

SuperSport Rugby and Bok Rugby posted, “A special moment for @kwaggasmith who leads the team as he brings up to his 50th cap at Murrayfield.”

Against the post, fans and fellow athletes quickly flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages.

One user commented, “All the way!!! Well done, we are so proud of you!.” Another user added, “Well done, Kwagga and Siya Bokke, for life, always proud of you guys.”

With his 50th international cap for the Springboks, Kwagga Smith became the 50th player to play 50 tests in the famed green and gold jersey.

He had his first test cap on 2 June 2018 against Wales at RFK Stadium, Washington DC.

CAREER

The 31-year-old Springbok player was born on 11 June 1993 in Lydeburg, South Africa. His age has convinced many that he might have his last World Cup dance at the 11th edition, slated for 2027.

According to reports, Kwagga Smith started his youth career with the Pumas in 2010. In 2012, the celebrated flanker joined the Golden Lions.

However, in 2014, he was promoted to the senior team. During his stint, he also starred for the Lions and Golden Lions.
