Like Gayton McKenzie and Penuel Mlotshwa, Siv Ngesi has documented his trip into South Africa’s only-white town, Orania.

The actor and media personality has recently tweeted about his frustration with racism and those who spread “misinformation” about the country.

SIV NGESI VISITS ORANIA: HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED…

In the latest episode of YouTuber Joshua Reuben’s Wide Awake Podcast, he travels with Siv Ngesi to Orania.

Located in the Northern Cape, the community of just 3000 individuals was built on private property in 1963.

Siv admitted that while he felt “uncomfortable” about visiting a whites-only town, he went in with an “open mind.”

The celebrity was given a tour of the self-sufficient town, which boasts its own businesses, schools, hospitals, and even currency. He spoke with leaders and residents about the cultural significance of the tight-knit Afrikaner community. Siv even sought to establish the single Orania dweller who voted for the EFF in the general elections last year.

“We came to Orania on a mission to bridge the gap of understanding between people from completely different backgrounds that share the same home [South Africa]. And I think we’ve succeeded in that”, Siv said.

However, he also added: “There were many positives, but there was a feeling that wasn’t right…they just lack diversity. It’s like ‘It’s our way or the highway. But they have every right to do that, as it is their place”.

‘NOT EVERYONE WHO APPLIES TO LIVE HERE IS ACCEPTED’

In an op-ed for Visegrád 24, Orania Movement head Joost Strydom defended Orania as “a community founded on the principles of Afrikaner self-determination, culture, and self-reliance.”

He continued: “We provide a space where Afrikaners can preserve their heritage, language, and traditions in a world that often demands assimilation at the cost of identity. We do our own work, whether farming, construction, or running a business. It’s not just about economics; it’s about dignity, self-reliance, and creating something that truly belongs to us”.

Strydom added that “not everyone who applies to move here is accepted.”

“That’s not because we wish to exclude, but because a community is built on shared values. Just like a family or a marriage needs common ground to survive, so does a town like ours. Every culture has the right to preserve its identity, and so do we”, he added.

Strydom has previously thanked US President Donald Trump for speaking out about Afrikaner South Africans. However, he added that much of the community was committed to staying and “rebuilding” the country.
