Actress and model Shashi Naidoo says she was robbed over half a million rand and has opened a fraud case.
SHASHI NAIDOO: ‘HORROR STORY’
The TV personality and businesswoman Shashi Naidoo revealed on her Instagram on Monday, 28 October that thug’s stole her phone and her money from her bank accounts.
“I had a bit on a nightmare in South Africa, that’s turning into a horror story. On Wednesday I was MCing an event and as I got out of my Uber, someone ran up to me and stole my phone.”
She says she did the sim swap the next day [Thursday], but the sim never activated, and she called Vodacom who told her it takes up to 24 hours for the sim to activate.
The next day, which is Friday, she was flying to Dubai and her manager told her she’s struggling to pay staff salaries. When she checked her Absa and FNB accounts at the airport, she found her accounts cleared.
“They have cleared out my savings account and cleared out my credit cards, they cleared R500 000 on my credit cards.”
She adds that she was about to get onto a flight to Dubai when she found out and it was the worst eight hours of her life.
Naidoo also revealed on her Instagram Story on Monday that they [thieves] attempted to get access to her accounts again.
“This is scary, so I have changed my password. But this is how many times they have tried to login. There’s no money left to steal. So, I’m not sure why,” she says.
