Eskom says they are working hard to restore electricity in parts of KwaZulu-Natal due to inclement weather conditions.
Severe thunderstorms caused significant damage in parts of the province this week. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) had also issued a yellow level 4 warning for disruptive rainfall.
PARTS OF KWAZULU-NATAL WITHOUT ELECTRICITY
On Friday, 20 December, Eskom said turbulent weather conditions continue to create havoc on electricity networks in KwaZulu-Natal and have led to disruptions in power supply to numerous parts of the province.
The power utility said its technical teams are making progress with restoring supply to affected customers, however, electricity users in the following areas are affected:
- Eshowe
- KwaMbonambi
- Mandini
- Nkandla
- Nongoma
- Stanger
- Bergville
- Estcourt
- Osizweni
- Paulpietersburg
- Umzkimkhulu
- Kokstad
- Margate
- Greenpoint
- Marburg
Eskom’s Nozipho Mpanza assured electricity users that they are attending to outages with the required urgency but request them to be patient while they work through the long list of faults.
“Because the outages are widespread and access to damaged infrastructure is often hampered due to wet soil or fallen trees, restoration might be delayed.
“In addition, the public is urged to stay clear of all fallen or damaged infrastructure and to report dangerous situations to their local authorities or to Eskom by using the MyEskom app, Alfred the Chatbot, USSD platform and the Eskom contact centre,” Mpanza said.
