An Limpopo crash involving seven cars occurred on the N1 road next to Ga Phasha village, Molemole Municipality, Capricorn District on 22 December 2024, Arrive Alive reports.
A total of seven lives were lost on Sunday morning following a horrific crash in Limpopo. The province’s transport MEC expressed her sadness over the tragic loss of lives.
LIMPOPO CRASH CLAIMS SEVEN LIVES
One of the vehicles involved in the multiple vehicle crash is a mini bus taxi, which was filled with passengers. Those who lost their lives were sadly declared deceased on the scene. Five other people were injured and had to be transported to hospital. Investigations are underway to find out the cause of the crash.
‘BE MORE CAUTIOUS’
The Limpopo province’s Transport and Safety MEC, Violetta Mathye, said the accident was a great loss. She expressed: “On behalf of the Department and the entire Limpopo community, the MEC wishes to convey sincere condolences to the bereaved families and their next of kin.”
Mathye also called on all road users to be more cautious on the road, especially during the festive period. The MEC said: “Much as we know that the festive season is for enjoyment, we urge our drivers and pedestrians alike to be more cautious when driving or walking along our roads. Road safety is the responsibility of all of us.”
TRUCKS CATCH FIRE AFTER COLLIDING IN LIMPOPO
Limpopo has seen its share of horrific accidents this year. A few months ago trucks caught fire after colliding on the R510 just after Molalatau Lodge in Lephalale. According to a post shared on the Facebook page Limpopo Traffic Updates, the heavy vehicles caught fire with the occupants inside.
