According to reports, six years after they announced their split, businessman Sbu Mpisane and his multimillionaire wife Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize are officially divorced.

Reports have it that the Durban High Court granted the couple’s divorce on Monday. News of their split has been in the courts since 2018 after MaMkhize filed for divorce.

SBU MPISANE AND MAMKHIZE OFFICIALLY DIVORCE

Rumour mill has it that their divorce has been before the courts for years because they couldn’t agree on ‘who gets what from their fortune.’

The two were married in a community of property. It is a marital property regime in which spouses own and control property in equal shares.

This means that all assets acquired during the marriage and any assets one spouse owned before the marriage are considered jointly owned.

Rumour mill has it that MaMkhize wanted to keep everything despite being married in a community of property.

Several blogs have revealed that MaMkhize had top lawyers who seemingly fought for her to keep everything. This seemingly delayed their divorce.

During their separation, the two stayed at their rumoured R22 million La Lucia mansion in Durban KwaZulu-Natal. Mpisane had access to the right wing.

MaMkhize and the rest of the family used the far left wing. However, the two have yet to openly confirm the news of their divorce, which has since thrust the topic into the top trends.

When asked for a comment, Sbu Mpisane referred the media to the Durban High Court for court documents since “the papers are for public consumption.”

However, he advised the media to speak to his ex-wife about the divorce. “Shauwn is the author of the divorce.

“So you’re free to speak to her because I don’t want her to sue me for speaking about things I don’t know,” he said.

REASONS BEHIND THEIR FALLOUT

In recent years, MaMkhize has opened up about her failed marriage with Sbu Mpisane. She once revealed one of the reasons she opted out of it.

“I think the small problem that led my marriage to divorce was that Sbu loved himself. I also loved Sbu. So, no one cared for me,” she said.

However, the media has yet to establish how the couple will share the wealth they have amassed over the years.
