The future surrounding Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng remains a mystery.
Buccaneers fans haven’t marvelled at the 27-year-old since December 7 following salary demands the club refuse to accept. Many have their money on an offseason move, but not this inside source: “Who is saying that [Saleng will leave]?,
“There is no such thing, and he remains a Orlando Pirates player. He would have been released in January if that was the case, but that didn’t happen because he is still in the club’s plans,” the source added.
“You can see that there is space for him in the like when [Mohau] Nkota didn’t have a great game in the derby, he [Saleng] would have been an option to replace him had he been available, but he was not in the matchday squad. He will be back.”
Three new targets
Equipped with an array of skilled defenders, Orlando Pirates are prioritising attackers ahead of the offseason transfer window and have wasted no time igniting negotiations.
According to reports, the Buccaneers are eyeing Zambia’s Andre Phiri, Gallant’s latest signing, Junior Zindigo and youngster Jaedin Rhodes.
Rhodes interest confirmed
“He (Rhodes) has been one of their (Pirates’) targets for some time now,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
“They have been monitoring him though there hasn’t been much happening. They were targeting him for the January transfer window period.
“Now that it didn’t happen they have more time to work on it and will see what happens in the next window. But they are interested in him. That I can tell you.”
Should Orlando Pirates welcome back Saleng?
