Driving tips

As there have been many incidents involving people travelling to or from Cape Town International Airport, it is a good idea to let someone like a friend know what route you are planning to take and what time you expect to reach your destination.

Traffic lights and intersections are common hotspots for incidents like hijacking.

Should you have an emergency like a flat tyre, continue driving if possible until it is safe to stop.

Ensure your car doors are locked and that the windows are up at all times.

Also, ensure that your vehicle has enough fuel before you leave.

Keep valuables out of sight. Do not leave your cell phone, laptop, handbag, etc. where they are visible from outside the vehicle.

If you have rented a vehicle, make sure you have the number of the car rental company in case of an emergency.

It is best to avoid driving at night if possible.
