SAFA President Danny Jordaan, Gronie Hluyo and Trevor Neethling have been accused on R1.3 million worth of theft, fraud and conspiracy.

They video below was taken at Gauteng’s Palm Ridge Specialised Crimes Court on December 5 – each of the accused members were granted R20,000 bail, and the case has been postponed to next week.

National spokesperson relays key information

Phindi Mjonondwane, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), highlighted two key factors of the case, saying, “And we will be bringing forth such evidence, and the court will make a decision. If the court finds that it is indeed conflicted, then Mr Jordaan will have to find another legal representing team.

“The second application is brought by the accused persons; they are citing unreasonable delays. So they are bringing applications in terms of 342A of the Criminal Procedure Act as part of their appeal. So the court will be entertaining both applications. As the State as well, we will be given an opportunity to respond to the allegations of unreasonable delay,

“Well, as a state we received information that he performs legal duties for SAFA and SAFA is the complainant in the matter and Mr Jordaan is now an accused where SAFA is a complainant but obviously, we cannot bring our case through the media much of that evidence will be diverse in court.”

Mjonodwane confirmed the cases postponement saying, “Okay, the matter has been postponed to the 10th of December. The court will be hearing two different applications, one by the state, where we are alleging that the lawyer representing Mr Jordaan is conflicted and we will be bringing forth such evidence before court and the court will then take a decision”.
