A extensively reported by The South African website, emergency services responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a McLaren 570s coupe on High Level Road in Sea Point in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Upon arrival, paramedics found two injured individuals.
Both were treated on the scene before being transported to a hospital for further care.
The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Nigerian rapper 3GAR Baby – real name Prince Daniel Obioma – while his brother was in the passenger seat.
3GAR Baby walked away with cuts and bruises to his face, while his brother, who was reportedly not wearing his seat belt, suffered more serious injuries.
On his Instagram Stories, 3GAR Baby revealed that he had been discharged from hospital and was recovering in his luxury sea-facing apartment.
The rapper posted a clip of his friends who visited him with bouquets of red roses.
South Africans were quick to call for 3GAR Baby to face criminal charges of reckless driving after his crash.
In a video that went viral via CCTV footage, the rapper was seen speeding down the road in a residential area.
The muso was recorded at driving 200km/h.
According to reports, Sea Point police are investigating charges of reckless and negligent driving.
Outrage varied from 3GAR Baby being fined heavily to wondering whether Home Affairs will be investigating whether he was in the country legally – or not.
A handful of the feedback received by The South African website below:
Should be arrested and the city should charge him for all damages. should pay for damages to property and vehicles as well… he along with that idiot that killed the dentist… harsh punishment should he handed down to both and an example made of them…. focus should be on the Justice system with harsher laws and prison sentences for these creatures whom have no respect for the rule of law… advance licenses will not deter these things from doing as they please with impunity…. toughen up the laws across all sectors and watch the country experience a mindset shift
All pdp license holders must hold an advance driving certificates with expiry dates from registered companies licenses also with expiry dates for reregistration. The same goes for super car owners. These must be on the drivers person at all times with his drivers license. FINES MUST BE HIGHER RATES.
Highly support the notion. These are not normal cars and should adapt to the roads and traffic in which it operates. They require properly trained operators who were taught to drive it responsibly and to control it professionally. Being filthy rich does not make you a good driver.
There’s no need for double standards. your drivers license should be obtained the proper way.if you can’t drive, don’t drive at all.
What special license? The would end up thinking they’re more special than other road users. Unless if you mean special as in “special class” for the slow thinkers.
Does this special license give them a right to go faster than everyone else? It wasn’t lack of skill or the car itself that made him break the speed limit. Just enforce the law as is.
They definitely need to do the Advanced Driving course before being allowed on the road. Hope he realises how blessed he is to be alive.
Does he even have a valid SA drivers licence ?
A high performance car requires a high performance driver. I can’t jump from a 1.6 Polo into a McLaren 570 and not expect that car to rock my world. If you’re fortunate enough to own or drive a car like that, it should be mandatory to have some advanced driver training. I’m not sure about a special licence though because where will you be allowed to drive that car to its limits in our country except for a race track? We don’t have an Autobahn.
The incident is the latest in a string of unfortunate crashes in the Mother City in recent months.
Last month, as reported by The South African website, the driver of a Ferrari lost control on Buitengracht Street and crashed into pedestrians.
Th accident claimed the life of Durban dental surgeon Dr Ncumisa Mdlokolo.
What’s the biggest reason for luxury vehicle accidents?
