One of the biggest calendar events in South Africa, SA Fashion Week is set to take place later this week in Melrose Arch, Gauteng. Here’s five things to know about the event.

WHO WILL BE OPENING THE SHOW?

Beloved South African designer Gert Johan Coetzee kicks off the first day with the launch of his London Fashion Week collection. SA Fashion Week runs from Thursday 26 – Saturday 28 September.

WHAT SEASON WILL BE SHOWCASED?

SA Fashion Week showcases the Autumn/ Winter 25 Collections.

HOW MANY SHOWS WILL THERE BE?

Fashion enthusiasts can expect to see over 13 shows over three days and 40 collections.

WHO WILL BE CLOSING THE SHOW?

The SA Fashion Week AW 25 Collections concludes on the 28th of September with a power pack line-up starting with the Mr. Price Scouting Menswear Competition. This will be Mr Price’s last season at SA Fashion Week, and they are featuring Eight up-and-coming talents competing for a cash prize of R50 000 from Mr. Price and a show at the SA Fashion Week AW 26.

Winner of the 2023 Scouting Menswear Competition, Sinchui, leads the pack followed by finalists – Candid, Rebirth, The Trend Setter from the North, Thobey Cooper, Undefined outdoor clothing, Victori, Waalid, and Yung Blood Apparel. The designers will all show sustainable fashion collections with a strong emphasis on printmaking.

“The last three seasons have been a tremendous showcase of South Africa’s most talented young designers. From Cyla to Robyn and most recently, Jessica-Ann, we are excited to help the next name in fashion gain a foothold in the industry through their association with our Mr. Price Scouting Menswear Competition in September,” said Kevin Smit, Managing Director, Mr. Price.

Enhle Mbali Motshwa, the estranged wife of DJ Black Coffee, will close the show with The Heavenly Collection” for her Essi Apparrel label whose clients include Beyonce, Boity Thulo, Linda Mtoba, and Connie Chuane.
