Russophobia in RSA threatens to further divide us

Man, never thought I’d wake up one morning and find myself fully agreeing with the ANC, EFF and MK on – not one, but THREE critical issues impacting SA and the world today: Russia, China and Israel.

Thing is, I have to agree with them because, once again – as with the armed struggle – they’re on the right side of history, morality and international law.  The DA, however (and, it would appear, most of white SA) is NOT (IMO).

THEY FORGET…

In the film, ELIZABETH, there’s a scene near the end where Duke Norfolk has just been arrested for treason by the Queen’s principal secretary – and spymaster, Sir Walsingham. Before they lead Norfolk away (spoiler alert – but it’s your fault, you’ve had nearly 30 to years to see it), he turns to Walsingham and says; “So cut off my head, and make me a martyr. The people will always remember.”  Walsingham looks him in the eye and sagely, knowingly and confidently says; “No, they will forget.”

Guess who turned out to be right?

Yes, as I’ve pointed out before, people forget. This is just one reason why the endless wars never end; because the older generations forget, and most of the new generations have no knowledge of history – or interest.

MADIBA: FROM “TERRORIST” TO PRESIDENT.  REMEMBER?

Maybe that’s why the DA and (most of) white SA – based on my experience on the ground – seem to have forgotten that there’s a very GOOD reason why a substantial chunk of our country supports Putin and Russia…against Ukraine.

It’s because, when the whole of the Western world – including Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and Dick Cheney – were calling Nelson Mandela and the ANC “terrorists”, there was one country (of a few) supporting, arming and funding them: Russia.

Now tell me, do we, as (white) South Africans still consider Mandela and the ANC to be terrorists?  (Sure, some die-hard, redneck, racist, fascists out there still do – but they’re the minority.) Does the world?  Or do we now acknowledge that they were freedom fighters…in a battle to overthrow the fascist, oppressive, totalitarian regime that was apartheid?  Why, the latter of course (duh).  And with good reason…

RUSSIA, ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ARMED STRUGGLE

Must say, it was the darndest thing.  Since childhood, for more than two decades, I’ve been hearing about this “terrorist” named Nelson Mandela, and how he and his “terrorist” organization, the ANC, wanted to kill all the white people.  Then, one morning I woke up and that “terrorist” is now my president, and his ANC party is my government.  Sooo, what happened?  Clearly, SOMEBODY has been telling me porky-pies about Mandela all my life, right?

Why, that would mean Russia was always on the RIGHT side of that struggle…long before the West, and white Saffers, came to our senses and realized that the ANC were justified in their armed struggle.  Right? (Think about that before you dance to America and Israel’s tune and start calling Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran “terrorists.”  History and future generations may not quite see it that way.)

RUSSOPHOBIA 2.0 – A COLD WAR HANGOVER

Of course, (much of) America hates Russia because it’s a hangover from the Cold War.  For years the US government terrorized its people with the Red Scare, McCarthyism and the threat of a communist hiding under every American bed.  We had something similar here in SA, called “DIE ROOI GEVAAR”.  Somehow, neither America nor white South Africa seems to have gotten past that Red Scare Russophobia.

Yet, any reasonable person can see that the Russian Federation of today is clearly not the “brutally oppressive” communist regime of the USSR.  Anymore than South Africa today is the same country it was under apartheid.

Furthermore, anybody out there who still thinks that Russia, China, Iran or North Korea are the bad guys; the villains on the world political stage, is either thoroughly brainwashed by Western MSM propaganda, or (I’m sorry to say) just simply stupid. Or both.

From where I’m sitting (and I know I’m not alone on this) Putin and Xi are two of the few sane, rational, diplomatic adults in the geopolitical room.

WHO STARTED MORE WARS SINCE 2001? RUSSIA…OR US/NATO?

All you need to ask yourself is this: Who has started more wars since WW2, Russia…or America? Heck, never mind WW2, how about just since 9/11 alone?  Who was it that (illegally) invaded Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003?  Who assassinated Gaddafi without trial or war tribunal and destroyed his once thriving country? Who was it that bombed Yugoslavia, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Syria? Who played Frankenstein with a killer virus…and then locked the planet down – based on dodgy science – when it “escaped” from Fauci’s Gain of Function lab?

Was any of that Putin…or Russia?  Nah, that was US/NATO. That was Washington, London and Brussels.  So let’s just call it like we see it; by now there should be little doubting that the biggest mass-murdering terrorist organization in the world is clearly the US/NATO/Israel alliance.  There’s your REAL “Axis of Evil.”  Not Russia, China and Iran.

DON’T FALL FOR IT AGAIN, SA

Hey…remember that time, back in 2010, when Putin stood up in front of a room full of Hollywood celebs and sang Blueberry Hill – badly – to raise money for an orphan children’s charity?  What a gangster thug, huh?  What a tyrant!

Snap out of it, S’Africa.  You’re being brainwashed and programmed into hating “the other”, again.

What say you, SA? Will Russophobia further divide us? Is Putin/Russia on the right side of international law, or not?
