Roland Schoeman slams Malema’s visa drama: ‘It’s consequence!’

Roland Schoeman is among many high-profile South Africans calling out Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) president Julius Malema, after he was his visa into the UK was “denied”.

The controversial party leader  – known for singing the struggle song Kill The Boer – condemned the British authorities in a rant on X.

JULIUS MALEMA ‘DENIED’ VISA TO UK

On Wednesday, 7 May, Julius Malema posted on X: “The British authorities have denied me a visa to London for the Cambridge Conference this weekend. Providing no substantial justification.

He continued: “It is clear to me that this is an attempt to silence a dissenting political perspective. We are currently at the OR airport, as we were promised that everything would be sorted by 15:30. Instead, we received a regret letter just four hours before our departure. This is unacceptable and spineless”.

In a media statement not long after, the EFF condemned the British High Commission, who they claimed “actively delayed the processing and approval” of Malema’s visa application. This, in light of his invitation to speak at Cambridge University’s “Africa Together Conference”, set to take place this weekend.

The party accused the commission of trying to “suppress political dissent and ban the voices of the EFF from building global solidarity against western imperialism”.

ROLAND SCHOEMAN, THE KIFFNESS, AND MORE REACT TO NEWS

Julius Malema’s visa saga quickly became a trending topic on the X platform, which, coincidentally, Elon Musk, his biggest critic, owns.

Former Olympic swimmer Roland Schoeman – who has been outspoken on his belief of farm murders, “white genocide”, and “racial discrimination” in South Africa criticised the party leader for his comments.

He posted on X: “You sing about killing white people, incite violence, and run a party that worships chaos in red overalls. Then you act shocked when civilized nations want nothing to do with you.

He continued: “Your echo chamber might cheer, but the world sees exactly what you are. This isn’t censorship. It’s consequence”.

Another outspoken South African, muso The Kiffness, also weighed in. He sarcastically responded: “‘No substantial justification’…Who’s going to tell him?”

He jokingly added, ” A UK visa is normally very quick. But I saw the visa office says that due to bank holidays in the UK, they couldn’t process it in time. Shem”.

Another X user, Aj Venter – a retired Springbok – laughed off Malema’s situation.
