South African rapper Reason has poured out his heart in a deeply emotional birthday tribute to his girlfriend and fellow artist, Gigi Lamayne.
Taking to social media, the lyricist didn’t hold back as he expressed just how much Gigi means to him, likening her presence in his life to divine light breaking through darkness.
Drawing inspiration from the Book of Genesis, Reason began his message by quoting the scripture that describes the beginning of creation, a poetic lead-in to what would become a moving declaration of love.
“@gigi_lamayne … YOU are my light!” he wrote.
“In a universe overshadowed by darkness and formless voids, I often gaze at you and feel unworthy of such a great gift in my presence.”
In the message, Reason opened up about his personal flaws and imperfections, sharing how Gigi’s presence has helped him feel seen and valued despite them.
He reflected on waking up beside her each day, calling it a reminder of God’s mercy and love.
“I am not the smartest, the richest, most handsome man in the world… hell… I might even be the worst. However, you still choose to share your light with ME,” he said.
Reason went on to describe Gigi as the embodiment of God’s grace in his life, saying he has never met God, but believes he’s seen Him through her.
“And I thank you for showing me that He still believes that I am capable of protecting and elevating your light!”
Ending the tribute with an affectionate note, Reason added, “Love you S’thandwa. With all my heart. And I thank you for being the best friend I’ve ever had in my life! You are truly… my EVERYTHING! Happy birthday Mma Ngwenya!”
