TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic is optimistic that his team’s recent 4-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in a friendly match will serve as a catalyst for a positive turnaround.
The Rockets have had a terrible start to the new 2024/25 Betway Premiership season, losing all three of their opening games.
As a result Ramovic’s Galaxy is currently in 15th place on the league standings and is one of two teams that have yet to earn a point this season. AmaZulu FC is the other team that has lost all of their opening matches.
AmaZulu’s poor start prompted the firing of head coach Pablo Franco Martin, who was appointed at the start of last season. Usuthu has since brought in former Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi as co-coaches to lead the club.
On the other hand, Galaxy was one of the top-performing teams in the local league last season, finishing sixth on the table with 44 points. The Mpumalanga-based side also reached the final of the 2023 Carling Knockout Cup, where they lost 5-4 on penalties against Stellenbosch FC.

With the Tim Sukazi-owned team looking to bounce back from a dismal start to the new season, their coach, Ramovic, is banking on the big win against Sundowns in a friendly to boost his players’ confidence.
“We started the season slow. It’s not the start that we wanted to have, but as a coach, I will continue to teach my players, train them, and educate them,” Ramovic said.
“We are very confident with our players because I see how they train, and also the last game or the last friendly game, we played against Sundowns where we won 4-1, which was a beautiful thing to see. This means that our team is of a high quality.
“I’m absolutely sure that we will bounce back because this team has the ability to avoid staying too long in this negativity we are in, and we don’t feel sorry for ourselves. We know that, together, we can come out, and we will because we have the quality and the winning mentality. So we will start in the [Carling Knockout] Cup against Chippa United, and we will win the game.”
TS Galaxy will lock horns with Chippa United in the Carling Knockout Cup Last 16 at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is at 15h00.
