President Cyril Ramaphosa has been asked to resign by citizens following the strengthened relationship he built with Nigeria.
A couple of days ago, Ramaphosa gave Nigerians free visa-entry, which sparked massive anger and caused a buzz on social media.
While people expressed their disappointment in the President, an action to protest against him took over the internet with the chant, Ramaphosa Must Go.
A Twitter user wrote, “Across South Africa and to every south African citizen this is not your president but he’s pretending to be. Originally he’s Nigerians president, and we demand he’s resignation #NationalShutDown.”
Another user wrote, “I genuinely want this National Shutdown to happen coz I am really sick and tired of it always trending with no effective change.”

Dear South Africans from all 9 provinces, we have our differences, but let’s put them aside
Let’s agree on one thing: #RamaphosaMustGo.
The man must simply resign.
That or a #NationalShutdown.
His decision-making has been persistently detrimental to the countrySikhathele!😭 pic.twitter.com/sh0qOVemOZ
