National Lottery operator, Ithuba, has revealed that the winner of the PowerBall draw on 26 November 2024 has claimed their winnings of over R77 million.
The married man, who is also a father, wasted no time in claiming his millions, reported IOL on 28 November 2024. This was after he was notified by his bank the morning after the draw that he won as he bought his ticket using a banking app. The winnings have allowed the man the chance to make three wishes for himself and his family come true this Christmas.
POWERBALL WINNER COULDN’T BELIEVE THE NEWS AT FIRST
IOL reported how the man and his wife responded after finding out that he won. He said: “They notifyed me of my big win. Both my wife and I couldn’t believe it at first. I went straight to the Ithuba offices to verify the news. I am so happy and relieved about this win – it’s going to change my life forever.”
WHAT HE PLANS TO DO WITH THE WINNINGS
He won a total of R77,428,794.30. The excited PowerBall winner also went on to share the great plans he has in store for him and his loved ones. Here are the three wishes he shared:
START A BUSINESS
His first plan is to open the business he has always wanted to start but couldn’t because of financial constraints. “I am finally going to start the business I have dreamt about for so long but didn’t have the financial muscle to get going.”
PAY OFF HOME LOAN
The man is also going to use some of the money to pay off his home loan so that he can be the sole owner of the house he shares with his family.
SECURE HIS CHILDREN’S FUTURE
Another thing the man has on his list of priorities involves his offspring. He plans to secure and invest in the future his children.
POWERBALL WINNER NOT GOING TO RUSH SPENDING THE MONEY
The winner of the PowerBall isn’t letting his excitement get the better of him. He expressed: “I want to take my time thinking about this. I plan to have several sessions with a financial advisor so I can make informed decisions about how to spend and invest this money wisely.”
The South African reported on 28 November 2024 how the man was able to scoop the R77 million PowerBall jackpot. The publication revealed that the winner used the Nedbank banking app to purchase their ticket. CEO of Ithuba, Charmaine Mabuza, said: “This incredible win highlights the ease and security of playing the National Lottery through Banking Apps.”
