Actress Quinta Brunson has filed for divorce from her husband, Kevin Jay Anik. They were married for three years before this development, and they don’t have any children.

PEOPLE obtained court documents that confirmed Quinta Brunson’s filing for divorce. The two have married in October 2021.
Brunson filed the petition for divorce on 19 March 2025. The petition also states Quinta Brunson and Kevin Jay Anik’s date of separation as “TBD,” which means “to be determined” or “to be decided.” Therefore, we can’t determine how long the couple has been separated.
Jeffers Law Office states, “if no agreement [regarding the date of separation] can be reached, it will be up to the court to make that determination.”
Fans wondered about Brunson’s reason for asking for divorce. According to the court documents, Brunson cited “irreconcilable differences” between them as the reason for their split.
The documents also mention that the two of them had a postnuptial agreement. Investopedia says, “A postnuptial agreement is a contract agreed upon by spouses after marrying that outlines the ownership of financial assets in the event of a divorce.”
The actress requested to divide their property based on this agreement.
In addition, the Abbott Elementary star requested that each party, meaning she and Anik, be responsible for their attorney’s fees.
This public divorce comes after Brunson is usually quiet about her marriage to Anik.

Some fans guessed that Quinta Brunson got engaged in 2020 when they saw a ring in a selfie she posted. The post’s caption was “more good news”, which made fans speculate about Brunson’s romantic life.

Although Quinta Brunson married on 5 October 2021, she only announced her marriage during her speech at the 2022 Emmys, where she won outstanding writing for a comedy series, according to AP News.
“In case I am not back up here again, I have to thank my mom, dad, brothers and sisters, my cousins … my wonderful husband because he’s the most supportive man I’ve ever known and my incredible cast and show for helping me to make this show and make the pilot,” she said at the time.
This was the first time that the actress confirmed her marriage, but it wasn’t the only time that Brunson talked about her husband while accepting an award.
Being grateful for Anik
In addition to her speech at the Emmys, Quinta Brunson mentioned her love for her husband during her speech at the 2023 Golden Globes, where she won the Best Musical or Comedy Actress award.
The actress also clarified in an interview with PEOPLE in November 2022 that she likes to keep her marriage private.
“I don’t talk about my relationship that often because it’s something that I like to keep sacred and safe. Nor do I bring him out to be analysed or attacked by the world,” she said.
During the interview, Brunson showed once again her appreciation of Anik. “We’ve had such a year together. He truly has been by my side and supportive every step of the way, so for him to be there with me at the Emmys and help me up to get my award and to be able to thank him was so special,” she said back then.
