Percy Tau’s future is a hot topic of discussion at the moment, as he is expected to leave Al Ahly.
Last week it was reported that Al Ahly were going to terminate Tau’s contract six months earlier than expect.
Tau and Al Ahly set to part ways
Tau has seen his game time reduced considerably at Al Ahly this season. This stemming from contract issues. The Bafana Bafana international was promised a bumper contract by the club of the century not too long ago. This after a superb season for the club, but out of nowhere, the contract changed to a reduced one. The was also a feud with the coach Marcel Koller who was previously a big ally of the player. Now it is believed that the club want to get rid of him so they can free up a foreign spot.
Now although Tau has been linked with Chiefs and Pitso Mosimane’s Esteghlal, he could end up elsewhere. On Tuesday this publication reported that Qatari side Qatar SC were set to announce the winger in the coming days. Now as per Soccer-Laduma, another side from the country has distanced themselves. This in the form of Al-Khor.
Al-Khor rule themselves out
“A destination that Tau has been heavily linked with is the Qatar Stars League. It is said that multiple teams in Qatar’s top flight have taken an interest in the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker, with one of the clubs keen on him believed to be Al-Khor. The Knights currently sit rock bottom of the log standings, and it has been suggested that successfully acquiring the South African could help their fortunes, but it seems they may have different plans.” Wrote the publication.
The publication the cites Middle Eastern reports where Al-Khor head of football, Hamad Dasmal Al Kuwari, denied the Tau rumours.
Where to next?
“We have not entered into negotiations, neither directly nor indirectly, to sign Al Ahly duo Hussein El Shahat and Percy Tau.There is no intention at the present time to sign any professional player at all.” Said the Al-Khor man.
That’s another club off the table then for Tau, so where does he go next? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
