Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be compiling their wish lists for the PSL transfer window in January as the Betway Premiership swings back into action.

PSL transfer rumours: 19 October 2024

Chivaviro walking away from South Africa but staying with Kaizer Chiefs?

Zimbabwe national team coach Michael Nees is monitoring Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro who’s eligible to play for The Warriors. This is according to SABC Sport.

Chivaviro was born in Limpopo to a Zimbabwean father and a South African mother so he’s eligible for both but must choose carefully as his first choice will be a permanent one. Nees’s Zimbabwe side comfortably beat Namibia 3-0 in a recent qualifier with Walter Musona bagging a brace.

Saleng is wanted in two European nations

Orlando Pirates hope to command a massive fee for 26-year-old winger Monnapule Saleng, who has started 2024-2025 in sparkling form. Belgian Jupiter Pro League side Standard Liege are reported to be interested in the 2022-2023 PSL Player of the Season. This follows interest from France’s Ligue 1:

Orlando Pirates might be forced to sell a striker

Tshegofatso Mabasa has been the clear favourite to lead the line for Pirates for the past season and a half. However, Evidence Makgopa was again preferred to the current Betway Premiership Golden Boot holder in Pirates’ starting XI against Stellenbosch in the MTN8 final. Mabasa seems to be Jose Riveiro’s pick for the league games while Makgopa is his go-to for big occasions and cup finals. It’s an interesting situation for the manager to juggle. Makgopa led the line for Bafana Bafana at Afcon 2023 but hasn’t been part of recent Afcon 2025 qualifiers. Instead, national team coach Hugo Broos has opted for Lyle Foster and Iqraam Rayners as his focal point strikers. He’s also selected an array of wide forwards to complement them.

Mokwana wanted in Europe, old PSL club to get a kickback?

Esperance and former Sekhukhune winger Elias Mokwana is now a regular for Hugo Broos in the Bafana side. According to Soccer-Laduma, European scouts watched him in South Africa’s resounding win over Congo. The 25-year-old now has four caps for his country. He moved to Esperance in August for a fee of around R7 million. Sekhukhune could earn a sell-on clause figure if he moves elsewhere for a larger fee.
