The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry,is reportedly “heartbroken” after quitting his Sentebale charity, founded in honour of his mother, Princess Diana.
PRINCE HARRY ‘HEARTBROKEN’ TO QUIT AFRICAN CHARITY
The Duke of Sussex and his co-founder, Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, issued a joint statement revealing their “devastating” decision to quit their roles as patrons of Sentebale.
Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso created the organisation together in 2006.
In the statement, the duo said there was an “untenable situation” between chairwoman Dr. Sophie Chandauka and the board of trustees. They went on to say that was happened was “unthinkable.”
“What’s transpired is unthinkable,” the duo said to The London Times.
“We are in shock that we have to do this,” the pair continued.
“With heavy hearts, we have resigned for our roles as patrons of the organisation until further notice, in support of and solidarity with the board of trustees. It is devastating that the relationship between the charity’s trustees and the chair of the board broke down beyond repair,” they added.
THE DUO: ‘WE WILL ALWAYS BE IT’S FOUNDERS’
Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso went on to say that despite no longer being patrons, they would always be the founders.
“Although we may no longer be patrons, we will always be its founders, and we will never forget what this charity is capable of achieving when it is in the right care,” they added.
The charity was created in honor of both Princes’ late mothers – Princess Diana and Queen Mamohato Bereng Seeiso. The charity helps young people affected by HIV/AIDS. The name of the charity means “forget-me-not”.
“We are pleased to confirm the restructuring of our board on March 25, 2025, to introduce experts with the capabilities and networks to accelerate Sentebale’s transformation agenda as announced last year,” said Sentebale in a statement, according to People.
This comes after Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle was accused of “faking” activities for their kids.
