Friends and family of the late Oscar award-winning actor, Presley Chweneyagae, will honour and cherish his life in two different memorial services.
Presley passed away on May 27 due to a sudden respiratory problem at the age of 40. A memorial service to honour the late former The River actor’s life will be on June 3 at Mmabatho Convention Centre, Mafikeng, in his hometown. While another one will be on June 5 at the Opera State Theatre in Pretoria, where he lived. Both services will be from 11 am to 2 pm.
Presley, who was dubbed as Cobra, Cobrizi or Mokwepa following his portrayal of Thuso ‘Cobra’ Mokoena on The River and Cobrizi first rose to fame with his starring role on Tsotsi in 2005, which led to his Oscar award-winning status.
He also showcased his acting prowess on iNumber Number, 90 Plein Street, When We Were Black, and Thula’s Vine, among others.
Recently, actress Sana Mchunu took to her Instagram page to share the details of the memorial service.
His industry colleagues shared their fond tributes and memories following Presley’s death. Lunga Mofokeng shared a clip.
His on-screen son on The River shared a series of clips in remembrance of him.
His co-worker, Winnie Ntshaba, also shared clips of his funny moments on set. This film is going to come out, and you won’t be here to witness your magic. Rest well, Presley,” she penned.
