On Sunday evening, President Ramaphosa will address the nation on the outcomes of the 15th BRICS Summit and the end of the panel probe into the docking of the Lady R vessel in South Africa.

President Ramaphosa was meant to address the nation last Thursday but had to cancel due to a fire that broke out at a building in Marshalltown Johannesburg, killing over 70 people.
He went to Marshalltown to get an update on the emergency and recovery activities and the government’s assistance to impacted families. On August 22-24, South Africa held the 15th BRICS Summit in Sandton.
Every year, the BRICS countries of Brazil, the Russian Federation, India, China, and South Africa meet for a BRICS Leaders’ Summit.
The discussions centre on areas of political and socioeconomic coordination where member countries have identified business prospects, economic complementarities, and areas of collaboration.

Ramaphosa will also be briefing the nation on the findings of the judicial panel of inquiry investigating the Russian cargo ship Lady R.
The panel was chaired by retired judge Phineas Mojapelo, who was accompanied by Advocate Leah Gcabashe SC and former cabinet minister Enver Surty. The panel’s investigations were completed on July 18.
